USDA Announces Availability of Low-Interest Physical Loss Loans for Producers Affected by Natural Disasters

Physical loss loans through the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) can help producers repair or replace damaged or destroyed physical property essential to the success of the agricultural operation, including livestock losses. Examples of property commonly affected include essential farm buildings, fixtures to real estate, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay.

Secretary Rollins Announces $675.9 Million in Disaster Assistance for Farmers in Florida

July 21, 2025

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins today in Florida met with agricultural leaders and producers and announced additional U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) assistance to help producers recover from Hurricanes Idalia, Debby, Helene and Milton.

In this agreement, FDACS is receiving $675.9M in funding to administer a program that will cover infrastructure, citrus, and timber losses in addition to direct market losses.

USDA Approves Emergency Conservation and Emergency Forest Restoration Assistance for 3 Counties in Michigan

July 21, 2025

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Michigan is accepting applications for the Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) and Emergency Forest Restoration Program (EFRP) to address damages from tornados and high winds that occurred on March 30, 2025.

ECP provides cost-share and technical assistance to producers to restore farmland to pre-disaster conditions and EFRP provides financial cost-share and technical assistance to restore nonindustrial private forestland (NIPF) damaged by a qualifying natural disaster.

ECP and EFRP signup began on May 21, 2025, and ends on November 21, 2025.

USDA Announces Loan Rates for 2025-Crop Peanuts

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) today announced 2025-crop loan rates for four types of peanuts. The rates take effect Aug.1, 2025, the beginning of the peanut crop year.

Producers and Landowners Can Now Enroll in USDA's Grassland Conservation Reserve Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced that agricultural producers and private landowners can now enroll in the Grassland Conservation Reserve Program (Grassland CRP). Grassland CRP, offered by USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), is a voluntary working lands conservation program that enables participants to conserve grasslands while also continuing most grazing and haying practices.

Nominations Open for the 2025 County Committee Elections

July 14, 2025

Local Farm Service Agency offices are now accepting nominations for county committee members and encourages all farmers, ranchers, and FSA program participants to take part in their local County Committee election nomination process.

Customers can identify which LAA they or their farming or ranching operation is in by using our GIS locator tool available at fsa.usda.gov/elections.

The deadline to nominate is August 1, 2025.

Trump Administration Announces Expedited Congressionally Mandated Disaster Assistance for Farmers

July 9, 2025

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins announced today that agricultural producers who suffered eligible crop losses due to natural disasters in 2023 and 2024 can now apply for $16 billion in assistance through the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP).

To expedite the implementation of SDRP, USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is delivering assistance in two stages. This first stage is open to producers with eligible crop losses that received assistance under crop insurance or the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program during 2023 and 2024. Stage One sign up will start in person at FSA county offices on July 10 and prefilled applications are being mailed to producers today, July 9. SDRP Stage Two signups for eligible shallow or uncovered losses will begin in early fall.

Enrollment Period Begins for USDA’s Reimbursement Transportation Cost Payment Program

Program Helps Offset Transporting Costs for Farmers and Livestock Producers Outside the Contiguous U.S.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Hawaii opened enrollment today for the Reimbursement Transportation Cost Payment Program (RTCP) for fiscal year 2025. The enrollment period begins July 7 and will run through Sept. 30. The deadline for producers to provide supporting documentation is Nov. 3, 2025.

RTCP helps U.S. farmers and ranchers offset a portion of the cost of transporting agricultural products over long distances.

SBA Relief Still Available to Montana Small Businesses and Private Nonprofits Affected by Drought

June 30, 2025

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is reminding eligible small businesses and private nonprofit (PNP) organizations in Montana of the July 25, 2025 deadline to apply for low interest federal disaster loans to offset economic losses caused by drought beginning Nov. 19, 2024.

The disaster declaration covers the Montana counties of Custer, Dawson, Fallon, Garfield, McCone, Prairie, Richland, Roosevelt, Valley and Wibaux.

USDA Reminds New Mexico Producers to File Crop Acreage Reports

July 1, 2025

After spring planting is complete, agricultural producers in New Mexico should make an appointment with their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) county office to complete crop acreage reports before the applicable deadline.

The following acreage reporting dates are applicable in New Mexico:

July 15, 2025: All other crops (excluding: Apiculture, Apples, Tree Nuts and Nut Crop, and Fall and Spring Seeded Grain Crops)

July 31, 2025: Hemp

August 15, 2025: Beans

Acreage reporting dates vary by crop and by county. Contact your local FSA office for a list of acreage reporting deadlines by crop.
